The Maine Cancer Foundation (MCF) has awarded Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County (HCC) a $10,000 grant to provide community education on cancer prevention and early detection with a focus on colorectal and prostate cancer. According to Jennifer McCormack, HCC executive director, colorectal and prostate screening rates in Franklin County are lower than the state average, resulting in significantly higher colorectal cancer incidence and mortality rates than the rest of state. For more information on activities planned, contact Cheryl Moody at 779-2214.
