Pine Tree Women's Care Obstetrical Services
The physicians at Pine Tree Women's Care provide routine and high-risk obstetrical services, including amniocentesis, ultrasound, operative obstetrics.
- Prenatal care--women can see one or all of the physicians for their prenatal visits. They receive an interactive booklet at the beginning of the pregnancy which provides educational material and tracks the pregnancy by visit.
- First-time moms can enroll in the Healthy Beginnings program, which includes an orientation to the Family Birthing Unit and home visits.
- Childbirth classes are taught by nurses every eight weeks.
- The Family Birthing Unit encourages natural childbirth with birthing beds, hot tubs, rooming in, and a cot for a family member to spend the night (private rooms).
- The new Family Birthing Unit has a Level 1 nursery with round-the-clock pediatric coverage.
- Labor pain management is also available
- Some high-risk obstetrical patients or premature babies are referred to the perinatologist and the Level 3 nursery at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
