NorthStar Policies & Procedures
NorthStar has developed policies and procedures for the exclusive use of and for its staff.
As we are reminded in Procedure 1.1, policies and procedures cannot cover every subject. We are "governed" by traditional rules of operation in the industry, Maine EMS and Maine State, and Federal rules and regulations. These along with common sense will dictate the solutions to most issues.
Since we live in a dynamic culture and industry, our documentation must be dynamic as well. We do not change these often but the information contained on these pages cannot be static. It, and we, must be flexible enough to change when practices, protocols or circumstances change; always keeping the patient’s well being as the driver of all we do.
These procedures should be continually under review with staff’s reasoned, considered feedback. There is a reason for each of these or there would not be documentation needed. We want to assure that our procedures are workable and fair and it is often only when put into practice that issues become evident.
Through professional, respectful patient care and consistent adherence to appropriate Policies and Procedures, we make NorthStar the premier service in Maine and in the entire New England region.
