- NorthStar's 2007 awards were given at the recognition dinner on May 23. Wade Browne was awarded NorthStar EMT of the Year while Don Salm, Peggy Betts, Greg Drummond, Ben Guild, and Peter Wade all were designated Base EMTs of the Year. Read all about it!. (5-24-07)
- NorthStar received the HeartSafe Communities award at the Gold level in a ceremony in Augusta on May 22. Focusing on the Chain of Survival and education, the award recongized NorthStar for its leadership in cardivascular disease prevention. (5-22-07)

- NorthStar takes delivery of new Ambulance for Sugarloaf and two Stryker "Power Cots". Continuing to upgrade the NorthStar fleet, the latest ambulance has been remounted and returned to the Sugarloaf Base. Additionally, two new electonic/hydrolic powered stretchers have been delivered for use at the Farmington and Livermore Bases. (10-19-2006)
- A couple of runs over the weekend prove the benefits of the "Wilderness" in WEMT. A Mooselook boat rescue and an Alder Stream rescue. Firehouse.com has the Sentinel's Alder Stream article (click here). (9-23-2006)
- NorthStar staff (Rod Koehn and Earle Albert) helped secure a Lifepak heart monitor/defibrillator for the Winthrop Veterinary Hospital. Through the Rangeley Region Health Center's donation, the Vet Hospital's "patients" now can get the benefit of this diagnostic tool. See Rod and Dr. Bill Bryant with a patient. (9-13-2006)

- NorthStar announces first Lifeline installation. NorthStar installed its first Lifeline at the Parsons home in Kingfield. Picture (8-24-2006)
- NorthStar reintroduces Lifeline Program in its Greater Franklin County coverage area. NorthStar is pleased to once again be installing Lifeline’s products in the community. - Mock OUI Accident Scene at Mt. Abram HS. NorthStar and local emergency services put on accident demonstration. Fire Departments, Sheriff Office, State Police and MAHS students took part. - NorthStar Delivers New Ambulance to Rangeley Base. NorthStar took delivery of a new, remounted ambulance replacing the 1996 vehicle purchased from the town in 2005. Also a picture featuring #16 with Harold Schaetzle, Tami McGarvey and Carl Blondell. (6-01-2006).
- NorthStar Providers Recognized. NorthStar’s recent Recognition Dinner and Awards Night was a big success. Honorees including Carl Blondell, NorthStar EMT of the Year, Sheila Hoyt, Peggy Betts, Ian Shamp, Penny Salm, and Samantha Jenkins as Base EMTs of the Year. Read all about it! (5-22-2006).
- NorthStar Announces Base Management Changes. NorthStar announces that effective April 15, Cory Morse, Farmington Base’s Supervisor. is taking the position of Senior (Float) Medic and Mike Senecal is adding the Farmington Base to his responsibilities. (4-3-2006).
- NorthStar offers "DNA ID Kits". NorthStar, northwest Maine’s regional Emergency Medical (Ambulance) Service is offering a unique Identification Kit to parents and families in the area at no charge. The pocket-sized kits can be completed at home for each child (or adult for that matter). The kit is then kept at the home in case a child becomes missing. (2-13-2006).
- NorthStar announces Training Upgrades. All NorthStar paramedics are trained in Paramedic Interfacility Transports (PIFT)... 100% of the entire NorthStar staff is qualified with Ambulance Vehicle Operator Course (AVOC) training, one year ahead of state mandates... more Wilderness designations (Hands on Health)(1-20-2006).
- NorthStar is involved in many other Community Activities around the Region. They include:
- Presentations or demonstrations at schools, daycares and civic organizations.
- Ambulance coverage for area sporting events.
- Preceptor program for EMT, physician and nursing students.
- First Aid coverage for the Franklin County Agricultural Fair.
- “Pet sitting” at the animal shelter.
- Presentations at school career days.
- Teaching area EMT and First Responder courses.
- Volunteers and/or contributors to the local United Way campaign.
- Presentation of Bike Rodeos teaching bicycle safety to local youngsters.
- Deployment of a Bike Medic team to cover local festivals, celebrations and parades. EMS training to area responders.
- Participates in area disaster planning and drills.
- Ongoing planning for community programs, including “House Calls”, a program to visit elderly citizens.
