Woodcock Appointed Director of Volunteer Services
March 2, 2009
In her new position, Woodcock will oversee more than 225 volunteers, ages 15 to over 80, who contribute over 26,000 hours of service annually. According to Tom Hagerstrom, Human Resources director, “Charlie will be responsible for interviewing potential volunteers, matching them with tasks that need to be done, and serving as a liaison between the volunteer and the volunteer’s supervisor.”
Volunteers can be found greeting patients at the escort desk, parking cars, filing forms in medical records, processing orders in shipping and receiving, calling patients to remind them of their appointments, and much more.
In addition to her responsibilities in the Volunteer department, Woodcock will continue as director of Franklin Health Access, a program that helps uninsured and underinsured people in Greater Franklin County with access to affordable health care services and free or low cost medications.
Woodcock is a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono and began working in the laboratory at Franklin Memorial Hospital in 1975. She served as the hospital’s medical laboratory director for over 10 years, before leaving to lead Franklin Health Access in 2004.
Woodcock lives in Farmington with her husband Chandler; they are the parents of four grown children. “Charlie is a very community-minded individual and her connections with our communities will be an asset to our volunteer program,” added Hagerstrom.
Woodcock welcomes calls from anyone who might be interested in volunteering at some 40-hospital departments, as well as affiliated FCHN organizations including Franklin Health, Evergreen Behavioral Services, Healthy Community Coalition, and Franklin Health Access. She can be reached at 779-2552.
