Prescriptions for Health to Discuss Web Use

Next presentation to feature tips to keep your family safe on the Internet

February 23, 2010

The next topic for Prescriptions for Health is “Surfing Safely: Keeping Your Family Safe on the Internet” featuring Ralph Johnson, chief information officer at Franklin Community Health Network, and Lorri Brown, program coordinator at Healthy Community Coalition. Prescriptions for Health is open to the public and free of charge.

The “Surfing Safely” presentation will take place on Wednesday, March 10, from 6–7:15 p.m., in the Chisholm Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

“Being internet savvy is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family,” said Johnson. “At this presentation we will discuss ways to customize your Web browser to filter inappropriate sites; tips on how to safely use social networking sites, blogs, and online video-sharing sites; how to protect your computer from viruses; and much more.” There will be ample time for questions and answers.

Registration for the presentation is required, as space is limited. For more information or to register call Jodi Cordes at 779-2592 or 1-800-398-6031, ext. 2592. Light refreshments will be available.

A sampling of upcoming topics for the “Prescriptions for Health” series includes wound care, travel medicine, and diabetes education.

If you have suggestions for future topics and/or speakers please contact Cordes with your ideas.
