Next Prescriptions for Health to feature Dr. Hyde discussing the new eICU
January 20, 2009The next topic for “Prescriptions for Health” is Franklin Memorial Hospital’s new eICU featuring hospitalist Dr. David Hyde. Prescriptions for Health is a health education series that features local physicians who present on a variety of health and wellness topics. The series is open to the public and free of charge.
Dr. Hyde’s presentation will take place on Wednesday, February 11, at 6 p.m., in the Chisholm Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital. In addition to treating patients in the hospital, Dr. Hyde also serves as Franklin Memorial Hospital’s medical staff president.
According to Dr. David Hyde, “Patients in our ICU are treated here by our physician hospitalists and monitored and helped by intensivist (critical care) physicians associated with Maine Medical Center. Through electronic monitoring, the critical care specialists in Portland can see through cameras and monitor patient data with electronic equipment. They can see remotely exactly what our nurses and doctors can see. This is an exciting new partnership.”
The new eICU technology went into effect on October 28 and does not replace the hands-on care provided by staff at Franklin Memorial.
Attend this session if you wish to learn more about Franklin Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit, the types of patients it treats, and the new eICU system.
Registration for the presentation is required, as space is limited. For more information or to register call Jodi Cordes at 779-2592 or 1-800-398-6031, ext. 2592. Light refreshments will be available, as well as child care to those who request it in advance.
A sampling of upcoming topics for the “Prescriptions for Health” series includes: hospice care; autism, ADD, and other developmental disorders; arthritis, tendonitis, and bursitis; menopause; and diabetes management.
If you have suggestions for future topics and/or speakers please contact Cordes with your ideas.
