Hospital to Host Babysitter and Safety Training

The program is designed for ages 13 and older

March 19, 2013

The Ben Franklin Learning Resource Center is presenting the BLAST! program babysitter and safety training class on Monday, April 15, from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. in the Chisholm Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital. The cost is $55.

The BLAST! program will prepare youth to interview for a babysitting job and begin babysitting safely and competently. Attendees will learn to select safe and suitable games and activities for children, ways to prevent accidents, and first aid. All participants will become CPR/AED certified by the American Heart Association.

The class features: babysitter basics including feeding, burping a baby, spoon feeding, crying, behavioral problems, and discipline; and first aid for emergency response, including CPR.

A full-color book complete with illustrations is included. It is an easy-to-follow format that lets former students use the book as a quick reference while babysitting.

Anyone interested in attending should include the name of the participant on the check along with payment of $55 payable to Tri-County EMS, 300 Main Street, Lewiston, ME 04240.

For additional information, call the Franklin Memorial Education Department at 779-2381.
