Free Presentation on Managing Your Diabetes Over the Holidays
November 5, 2007
The Healthy Community Coalition (HCC) and the Ben Franklin Center at Franklin Memorial Hospital invite the public to attend a free community presentation called Managing Your Diabetes Over the Holidays, on Thursday, November 15, from 6 - 7:30 p.m. in the Medical Library at Franklin Memorial
This presentation features a panel of four professionals with many years of experience working with people with diabetes and with their family members. Rita Porter, RN, and Nancy Thomas, RN, will discuss medication management and exercise tips, while Eileen Caffrey, RN, will talk about the effects stress has on diabetes and how to manage stress over the holidays. Dietician Eileen Liddy, MS, will address the importance of good nutrition in managing diabetes and offer some holiday healthy eating tips. There will be an opportunity for participants to share stories and ask questions.
Participants will also be encouraged to use the computers in the library to access helpful websites. A librarian will be available for assistance.
Light refreshments will be provided. Childcare is also available upon advance request (at least three days).
The presentation is a part of the new Six O'clock Series, a collaborative effort of the HCC and the Ben Franklin Center at Franklin Memorial Hospital. The series features monthly presentations on timely health topics and provides information on how to connect to community resources relevant to
the topic. Presentations will be held throughout greater Franklin County.
