FMH Oncology Services Welcomes Dr. Bertram

Franklin Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the expansion of its oncology specialty services with the arrival of Dr. Juergen Bertram, an oncologist, who is now providing cancer care at the hospital two days-a-week. Dr. Bertram is affiliated with the Cancer Center at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Dr. Bertram was born in Germany and received his Doctor of Medicine from the Universities of Marburg and Giessen, Germany. He completed his internship and residency at Columbia University in New York City and at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Dr. Bertram completed his fellowship in medical oncology and hematologic malignancies at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Bertram is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. Most recently, Dr. Bertram practiced in the hospital-based cancer center at Three Rivers North Campus, in Poplar Bluff, MI. While there, he also provided oncology specialty services at a satellite location, like he is doing now at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Dr. Bertram has also been an Associate Professor of Medicine and Oncology at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, since 1981.
"With the addition of Dr. Bertram we are pleased to offer aggressive treatment for all types of cancer, as well as benign and malignant blood disorders," said Taffy Davis, FMH Outpatient and Oncology Manager. "We offer chemotherapy and intravenous fluids administration, blood product transfusion, and antibiotic therapy—all administered by chemotherapy-certified and oncology-certified registered nurses. And, access to clinical cancer research trials is possible through the Dana Farber Cancer Institute."
Franklin Memorial Hospital's cancer care services also include prevention programs and advanced technology for early detection, as well as surgical services, and rehabilitation and support services.
