Dr. James Smith to Return to Franklin Health
Dr. Smith will join Livermore Falls Family Practice on November 5

Rebecca Ryder, Franklin Memorial Hospital president, is pleased to announce that James Smith, DO, will rejoin the Franklin Memorial Hospital medical staff on November 5 as a provider at Franklin Health Livermore Falls Family Practice. Other providers in the practice include: Dr. Janice Lee, Dr. Michael Rowland, and Mary Dunlap, FNP.
Until then, Dr. Smith is already providing medical coverage at the practice every Wednesday on an interim basis.
“Dr. Smith is viewed as a highly respected physician and leader among colleagues and patients alike,” said Ryder. “I’m sure that his former patients and staff associates will be pleased to hear that he is returning to the area.”
Dr. Smith has provided primary care for patients since 1994. He was a provider at Farmington Family Practice from 1994–2010 before moving to York, Maine. Besides family medicine, his professional interests also include international medicine in underserved areas.
Dr. Smith received his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed his family practice residency at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Smith is a former board member and treasurer of the Maine Osteopathic Association and the Maine Academy of Family Physicians. From 1998–1999 he served as Franklin Memorial Hospital’s medical staff president.
Franklin Health Livermore Falls Family Practice is located in the new Androscoggin Valley Medical Arts Center at 21 Main Street in Livermore Falls, where patients can also access outpatient specialty care, lab services, x-ray, digital mammography, and ultrasound services.
