Community Presentation to Discuss End of Life Issues
February 12, 2009Is there such a thing as a good death? What are hospice care, palliative care, advance directives, and living wills?
These questions and more will be answered during the March "Prescriptions for Health" presentation at Franklin Memorial Hospital featuring Dr. Larry Labul, a hospitalist at Franklin Memorial Hospital who is board certified in hospice and palliative care, as well as internal medicine.
"With proper planning and advance directives, individuals can provide information to their family and physician to assure that they are provided the health care they wish, should they be unable to speak for themselves," said Dr. Labul.
The presentation will take place on Wednesday, March 11, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Chisholm Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
According to Dr. Labul he will discuss: hospice care, who qualifies, and what services are offered; palliative care; advanced directives and living wills; and new legislation regarding DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) and hospital resuscitation.
Registration for the presentation is required, as space is limited. For more information or to register call Jodi Cordes at 779-2592 or 1-800-398-6031, ext. 2592. Light refreshments will be available, as well as child care to those who request it in advance.
