Franklin Community Health Network’s (FCHN) 7th annual Champions for Health Care Basketball Tournament took place May 3–5 at UMF’s Dearborn Gymnasium. Six men’s teams competed in the high caliber round robin tournament that raised more than $7,500 in proceeds to benefit Franklin Health Child & Adolescent Developmental Pediatrics.
The beneficiary is a medical practice that specializes in treating children with developmental disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD, anxiety, and difficulties with learning and school performance. Its lead physician is Dr. Iris Silverstein.
The championship game was between Ranor Mechanical and VTEC, with the South Portland VTEC team ending up on top. In an exciting coed exhibition game between FCHN and Farmington Walmart employees, Walmart prevailed 45–41.
