Community CPR and First Aid Classes Offered

January 10, 2008

Registrations are now being accepted for a Heartsaver CPR course and a First Aid course being offered at Franklin Memorial Hospital in February. The Heartsaver CPR course is being offered on Thursday, February 7, from 5 - 9:30 p.m. in the Bass Room. The course will follow the standards and guidelines for CPR from the American Heart Association and is designed for the general public. It will include information on basic cardiac life support techniques for adults, children, and infants, as well as instruction on auto electronic defibrillators.

The standard first aid course will take place on Thursday, February 28, from 5 - 9:30 p.m. in the Bass Room. First aid is the immediate care that you give someone with an illness or injury before trained help arrives and takes over. The course is designed for those who are currently CPR-certified. Topics will include first aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, and environmental emergencies.

There is a $45 fee for each course, which includes the cost of a textbook. For more information or to register, contact Amanda Brown at 779-2381.
