Franklin's Medical Arts Building to be Completed in June
April 11, 2008
Franklin Community Health Network (FCHN) is nearing completion of a new Medical Arts Building to better accommodate the growing number of patients at local medical practices. The building, which is slated to be completed in June, is located to the north of the hospital and will be connected to it with an indoor corridor.
The cheerful and bright space will offer patients easier access to diagnostic services at Franklin Memorial Hospital such as radiology and lab services, and outpatient specialty care. Physicians and nurses will enjoy the efficient space of the building, as well as the convenience of being located near the hospital's surgical suites, maternal and child health unit, and other units and departments, in addition to patient rooms.
The 58,000 square foot building will house Pine Tree Pediatrics, Pine Tree Women's Care, Franklin Orthopedics, Franklin Surgery, Franklin Urology, and the Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center. Some departments currently in the hospital will be relocated to the lower level of the facility, such as Human Resources, Health Information Management, and Care Support.
"In addition to attracting and retaining great doctors and other staff, this project when complete will allow us to provide the highest quality patient care with new facilities matching the outstanding excellence of our staff," said FCHN President Richard Batt.
A workforce of approximately 25-75 people, many of them locally-based, has been on site most of the time during the 18-month project. H.E. Callahan of Auburn is overseeing construction management and Harriman Associates of Auburn is the architect.
The Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is hosting a public open house at the new facility on Sunday, June 29, from 5-7 p.m. Tours, live entertainment, horse-drawn wagon rides, children's activities, refreshments, give-aways, and more will be available.
Franklin Community Health Network is an independent community health care network that includes Franklin Memorial Hospital, Pine Tree Medical Associates, Evergreen Behavioral Services, NorthStar EMS, and the Healthy Community Coalition. FCHN has been the recipient of numerous national awards for innovation, high quality care, and partnering with the community and other local organizations to improve health.
