Our Team of Care Providers

Office Information

We see patients in two locations: on the 2nd floor of the Franklin Health Medical Arts Center, located on the Franklin Memorial Hospital campus, and at the Androscoggin Valley Medical Arts Center in Livermore Falls.

  • We are accepting new patients.
  • If you have any questions or would like an appointment, please call 207-778-6394 and our staff will help you.

We offer 24-hour call coverage when the office is closed, including weekends and holidays. To reach the doctor on call when the office is closed, call Franklin Memorial Hospital at 207-778-6031 and ask the operator to assist you in speaking with the provider on call.

Providing Exceptional Birth Experiences

The doctors and nurse midwife at Franklin Health Women’s Care offer special expertise for women during pregnancy and childbirth, delivering babies at Franklin Memorial Hospital in spacious intimate rooms. We offer the backup of an advanced wireless monitoring system to allow a laboring woman the freedom to move about as it monitors vital signs, fetal heart rate, and alerts staff to changes in her or her baby’s condition.

We are committed to creating a nurturing family-centered environment that is safe and supportive through all stages of pregnancy and the birth process. Our practitioners and nurses work with patients to develop a birth plan with birthing preferences so that we can provide families with the most rewarding and fulfilling birthing experience possible, and babies with the best possible start.

In February Newsweek announced its 2021 list of Best Maternity Care Hospitals, which included Franklin Memorial Hospital. The distinction recognizes facilities that have excelled in providing care to mothers, newborns, and their families, as verified by the 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Best Maternity Care Hospitals is part of Newsweek’s Best Health Care series, powered by data from The Leapfrog Group.

Hospitals named as a Best Maternity Care Hospital have fully met The Leapfrog Group’s standards for maternity care on evidence-based, nationally standardized metrics. This includes lower rates of early elective delivery, NTSV C-section, and episiotomy, as well as compliance with process measures including newborn bilirubin screening prior to discharge and blood clot prevention techniques for mothers delivering via C-section.

Contact Information

To make an appointment, please call us.

Prescription Refills

Please contact us at least 48 hours before you will need to have prescriptions refilled.

Appointment Policy

If you are unable to make your appointment, 24-hour advance notice is appreciated whenever possible. This allows us to open up that time for another patient needing care.

Emergencies

In an extreme emergency, such as loss of consciousness, chest pain, severe breathing problems, or major bleeding, call your emergency service number (usually 911) first. Do not delay emergency care by calling our office or the hospital. Afterward, if necessary, call your physician for further advice and coordination of your emergency care.

Six to seven percent of pregnancies are complicated by the development of pregnancy-related (gestational) diabetes. This condition has consequences for both mother and baby including: large babies, a risk of the baby needing IV support after delivery, and increased chance that the mother will develop diabetes later in life. To better manage both gestational diabetes and women who already have diabetes and become pregnant, Franklin Health Women’s Care has a special clinic set aside so they can receive physician care, nutrition counseling, and diabetes education at the same time for their convenience.

Expectant moms can participate in their prenatal care as never before, thanks to group visits supporting pregnancy, a new approach to pregnancy care at Franklin Health Women’s Care.

You will be in a group with several other women whose due dates are close to yours. The groups form around 16 weeks of pregnancy. In each of the ten sessions, you will have a private examination with your health care provider. Then you’ll have refreshments and meet as a group to discuss questions, concerns, and solutions. Each woman is encouraged to bring her partner or another support person.

Certified nurse midwife JennieLea Hanna will facilitate the groups along with a Franklin Health Women’s Care office nurse. Being able to meet together with the same group of expectant parents allows for continued sharing and development of a support network, which often extends well into the child rearing period.

Maintaining good oral health during pregnancy is important because it can decrease a child’s chances of dental problems in the coming years.

At Franklin Health Women’s Care all new prenatal patients receive oral health screening and assessment at their first prenatal visit and patients needing a dental home or services are referred to Community Dental or a local dentist.
