Having surgery can sometimes be stressful. Our team wants you to feel confident, relaxed, and ready for your surgical procedure. We encourage you to request a tour of our surgical unit during pre-admission testing, ask your nurse or doctor about working with our librarians in the Ben Franklin Center Library to learn more about your procedure, or to register for our Prepare for Surgery Class. This class is designed to help you feel calm before, during and after surgery, recover faster, and feel less pain. Activities include breathing exercises, muscle relaxation, and positive visualization.
If you are concerned about how to pay for your surgery, please know that we are here to help. Our financial counselor is here to discuss local, state, and federal programs, as well as programs at Franklin Community Health Network, that can help you pay for care. You can learn more about these programs by visiting www.fchn.org/payingforcare or by picking up one of our Paying For Care brochures.
If you have additional questions after speaking with your surgeon or primary care doctor, we encourage you to make use of the following resources:
The Ben Franklin Center Library at Franklin Memorial Hospital is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Library is fully staffed and contains books, magazines, patient videos and DVDs, as well as two public use computers and a private patient education room.
The Maine Health Forum is a statewide online resource that features articles and information for patients, including information on paying for care.
