Medical Imaging

Medical imaging is the specialty that involves the noninvasive production of images of the inside of the human body. These images are used to diagnose and treat diseases. Radiology, which makes up a large part of medical imaging, involves the use of x-rays to obtain visual information. Medical imaging also includes other techniques, such as MRI and Ultrasound, which do not use radiation.

Franklin Memorial Hospital offers the following medical imaging modalities:

PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) is Franklin Memorial Hospital’s medical imaging digital archiving system. Modern technology, such as electronic imaging and high-speed connectivity, has eliminated the need to handle heavy, bulky films. Our Medical Imaging Department now uses Computed Radiography (CR) to obtain images that are stored in PACS.

Franklin Memorial Hospital’s Medical Imaging Department is staffed 24 hours a day. You can request a CD of your images by calling 207-779-2370.
