Description:
This service is expanding to five physicians and one physician assistant. The schedule at this time is 7 days on and 7 days off. The Hospitalist Service functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Hospitalist volumes for the next year are projected at 600 admissions with a daily census of 10-15 patients. Franklin Memorial Hospital is a 70-bed, acute care community hospital with a 54 Active membership on the medical staff. The Hospitalist Service provides the following types of care:
Hospitalist volumes for the next year are projected at 600 admissions with a daily census of 10-15 patients. Franklin Memorial Hospital is a 70-bed, acute care community hospital with a 54 Active membership on the medical staff. The Hospitalist Service provides the following types of care:
Ø General adult medicine intensive care, including the care of patients with acute coronary syndromes and with chronic respiratory conditions ventilator care;
Ø Cardiovascular procedures including EKG interpretation, performance and interpretation of exercise, and pharmacologic cardiology stress tests;
Ø Medical consultation and care of surgical patients, consultation to the FMH Emergency Department, and preoperative consultation;
Ø Care for adult medicine patients of area physicians who do not themselves care for hospitalized patients;
Ø Care for the patients of FMH staff physicians, who cannot come to the hospital to care for their patients during normal working weekdays (care of these patients will be returned to the staff physician at the end of the working day);
Ø Performance of routine medical procedures – LP, paracentesis, thoracocentesis, central lines, intubation and critical care management.
